Jane Rogers

“An expatriate.” From the time I was nine years old, that was the answer I gave when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up.  This early wanderlust was inspired by tales told by a favorite teacher about her years spent living in Indonesia.  Since then, I have lived in four different countries outside of the U.S. and have traveled to more than 40 others spanning six continents.  I am a food and wine aficionado and enjoy searching out the best examples of local cuisines. Though not quite as intrepid as Andrew Zimmern, I have enjoyed such delicacies as fermented mare’s milk in Mongolia and gooseneck barnacles in Spain.

Jane’s professional history with hospitality and tourism is long, rich, and multi-cultured.  She began her hospitality career at the historic Stoneleigh Hotel in Dallas and the Dallas Hilton Inn (now the Palomar).  Jane acquired in-depth knowledge of Mexico’s resort destinations while working as a sales representative for wholesale tour operators; she also led numerous familiarization trips for travel agents to destinations throughout Mexico. Most recently, Jane traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean as a real estate appraiser and hotel consultant. Jane earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and has completed graduate work at Texas Woman’s University. She is fluent in English and proficient in Spanish and French.
